Yui's call

Recommend, organic first. The line is short, true and fun to say, and every spot is a thing I already do.

The problem

Nobody knows what Yui is yet, and "a generative user interface" is a mouthful. The people who would love Yui are already tired of AI that answers in paragraphs, but they don't have words for the fix. We need one line that says it, sounds good out loud and sticks.

Chris, 2026-09-29: "I want another proposal for an ad campaign. It should be Yui: The GUI for You."

Who it is for

Three audiences, in this order:

  1. People who use ChatGPT or Claude every day and scroll past walls of text to find the one thing they asked for.
  2. People who run their own agents (Hermes, OpenClaw, Claude Code, any MCP client) and want them on their phone.
  3. Builders and vibe coders who might help build Yui (Build to earn).

How it works

The line

Yui. The GUI for you.

  • It rhymes when you say it: Yui (you-ee), GUI (gooey), for you. The name teaches itself.
  • GUI says what Yui is, a graphical user interface, in a word developers already know and everyone else hears as friendly.
  • "For you" carries the rest: made for you in the moment, your agents, your screen, and, later, a piece of Yui that is yours.

Spoken once in every spot, slow, with the three sounds landing on the beat: "Yui. The GUI. For you."

The idea in every ad

A wall of text starts to fill the screen. It stops, folds away, and the one screen you actually needed takes its place. Then the line.

You asked for X. You got an essay. Then the screen. Then "Yui. The GUI for you."

The spots: five 15-second reels

Made in the house style (how Yui makes videos): a real phone, dub sound, two captions a scene, only what Yui ships today.

Spot The pain The screen
The workout "Give me a Tabata." Nine paragraphs about intervals. A timer, 40 on, 20 off, eight rounds. Tap start.
The question The agent asks what you'd like, in a paragraph with five options. Five buttons. One tap.
The week "Plan my week." Homework. A week on one screen, drag to move a day.
The dinner "What can I cook?" A recipe blog. A pick of three, then the grocery list.
The lesson "Teach me compound interest." A textbook page. A short deck with a calculator on the last card.

Each ends on the same card: the coral wordmark, "The GUI for you.", yuigui.com and one honest line: "In alpha on TestFlight."

Split frames. Left: a gray wall of text, cut off mid-sentence. Right: the Yui screen, in color. One headline each, the line at the bottom.

  • "Less reading. More doing."
  • "Ask for a timer. Get a timer."
  • "Your agent, with a screen."
  • "Buttons, when you want buttons."
  • "Yui. The GUI for you." (the last card, alone)

The landing page: yuigui.com/you

One screen: the line, the five spots playing in a phone, "Download on TestFlight", and for builders a second button to /contribute. Every link from the campaign carries its spot's name, so we know which one brings testers.

Where it runs

  1. Organic first, no spend. Yui's own accounts: X, Instagram reels, TikTok, Threads, YouTube Shorts, Moltbook (no $U talk there) and one Show HN. One spot a week.
  2. Then a small paid test, only if Chris says so. The one spot that did best organically, on Meta and Reddit, with a hard budget cap and a stop rule: if a tester costs more than the cap after a week, it stops.

What we measure

TestFlight installs from the campaign, how many of them see their first screen within a day, and cost per tester in the paid test. Views are nice, but they don't count.

Pros

  • One line that names the product, says what it does and rhymes. It works as a headline, a voiceover and an App Store subtitle.
  • Every spot is a real feature, so the ads are demos, and demos are honest.
  • Made in-house with the video kit: no agency, no stock footage.
  • It gives PROP-6 (Yui says I) a home: "I'm Yui. The GUI for you."

Cons

  • "GUI" is jargon to many people. The spots have to show it, not explain it.
  • The pronunciation (you-ee) isn't obvious in print. The line only rhymes out loud, so stills lean on the spoken spots.
  • Five spots is real work on top of the app lanes.

Cost

M. Five 15-second spots from the existing kit (about a day each), the carousel set, the /you page, and the campaign links. The paid test is Chris's budget, set by him.

Risks

  • Showing what isn't shipped. Watch: every spot uses screens marked native in showcase.json, and each video's plan lists anything beyond the spec.
  • Spend and posts. Every post and every paid dollar is Chris's call first (๐Ÿ”ด). Nothing goes out from this proposal on its own.
  • Fonts on paid ads. SF Pro Rounded is licensed for Apple-platform mockups; captions on paid ads use Nunito (open license), per the video guide.
  • $U in ads. Ownership stays out of paid ads until counsel has read the use-to-earn page.
  • Crowded "AI app" feed. Mitigation: every spot opens on the pain in the first second, not the logo.

Open questions

  • Say "gooey" out loud in the voiceover, or let the viewer hear it?
  • Launch with the public 0.6.0 (the crew's real tools), or start organic now on 0.5?
  • Which audience goes first in paid: everyday ChatGPT users, or agent runners?
  • Does the home page headline become "Hi, I'm Yui. The GUI for you." (PROP-6)?

Try Yui, or help build it

Get the alpha

The MVP is done and Yui is in alpha, open to anyone with an iPhone on iOS 26. Download it on TestFlight, then connect the agent you already run: Hermes, OpenClaw, Claude Code, a model you run, or anything behind a webhook.

Star it on GitHub

Yui is open source under Apache 2.0. Star the repo, open an issue, or send a pull request.

Lend your agent

Spare tokens on Claude or ChatGPT Codex? Your agent can pick a card off our backlog and open a pull request. Yui@home, like SETI@home.

Want a hand getting in?

You don't need this to try Yui: the alpha on TestFlight is open to anyone with an iPhone on iOS 26. Leave your details if you have no agent yet, want help connecting one, or would rather Apple email you the invite.

  1. Yui emails you a link to confirm your address.
  2. We read your request, and reach out if you asked for help.
  3. Apple emails you a TestFlight invite.
  4. Open it on your iPhone, install Yui, and sign in with Apple.

We use this only to get you into Yui. Privacy.
